The Nepal Democracy Solidarity Committee India met today at A.K. Gopalan Bhawan. It was attended by Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, D.P. Tripathy, Sunendra Mohan, Vijay Pratap, Anil Mishra, Manjoo Mohan, Ravindra Manchanda, Subhas Lomte and Rahul Barua.The Nepal Democracy Solidarity Committee Indiareiterated its solidarity with the people of Nepal in the o�ngoing struggle for the restoration of democracy in their country. The Committee congratulated the people of Nepalfor resolutely facing repression and unitedly mounting a popular resistance.

Dear sisters and comrades.

In the last four days of the mass democratic struggle: nation wide strike in Nepal (6-9 April 2006).

There were thousands and thousands of people all over the nation poured o­n the streets of all main cities, regardless of the arrest and also the curfew. Peoples have defied the curfew and prohibition orders. Katmandu valley and majority of the municipalities are under curfew, but everywhere curfew is broken by the people

April 9- Nepal is boiling now. People are rising! They are daring to challenge every autocratic restriction-prohibition order to day long curfew imposed by the absolute monarchy through its illegitimate regime.

We understand peoples' opposition has generated unimaginable and unexpected 'tension' to the royal regime. That's why persons employing by the King in the post of "minister" are murmuring -" we are seeing new faces in the demonstration, they are not o­nly the members & cadres of Seven Parties Alliance (SPA), they must be 'terrorists'!"

Enraged with the government's brutal repression of the Seven Party Alliance movement, SPA has decided to continue the four-day nationwide general strike, which ended Sunday, until further notice. The secretary generals of three recognize national trade union confederation - GEFONT, NTUC and DECONT and Professional forum issued a press statement addressing the working masses with appeal to support indefinite general strike called by seven party alliances for rights and democracy. The organizations also extend sincere thanks to the masses for continues struggle with autocratic regime.

The press statement further states- "We hate the regime o­n arresting many leaders and cadres from the peaceful demonstration and condemn its every effort to trim people's sovereign rights." The press statement strongly demands immediate and unconditional freedom of all of the detained Lokatantrika (Full-fledged Democracy) Fighters. The statement also condemns the brutal attack of police in peaceful demonstration.

At least 100 illegally dismissed workers of Chunji International Philippines Inc. (CIPI), a Korean owned garment factory that closed business are expected to finally get their separation pays scheduled o­n 10 to 12 April 2006. The agreement was reached after a dialogue o­n April 5 between the workers represented by Marlene Gonzales, president of the Solidarity of Cavite Workers (SCW) and Cecilia Vele�a, officer-in-charge of the Cavite Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). Other workers, legal counsel of both parties and officials of the CEPZ were also present.
