Impact of Globalisation:Uniting Women Workers of Asia in Action
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
24-26 November 2006
INTRODUCTION
In Asia, restructuring of the global production chain under neo-liberal globalisation has led to many changes in economic production in the formal and informal economy. This is especially true of Asian countries where in the last 20 years foreign direct investment has resulted in the growth of labour-intensive industrialisation. The impact of this is the informalisation and feminisation of labour as it is mostly women who are employed at lower income levels.
